You are the “get it done” person! The one everyone counts on to be responsible. You are a high achiever. AND let’s be honest, you have paid a price. The constant chatter in your head, the doubts and insecurity. The To-Do juggling and white-knuckling gets old. As does the insomnia, indigestion and headaches. You might have convinced yourself this is just ‘the price you have to pay’ but I am here to tell you it doesn’t have to be this way. You can still be successful AND not be hiding this secret anxiety and dread from the world.
The challenge with High Functioning Anxiety is in many ways it has helped you accomplish so much but now you see the anxiety in your kids. You watch them going to school and interacting with their friends and they are doing all the things you did, feeling all the anxiety.
That is what I help my clients do. People with High Functioning Anxiety tend to develop a lot of unhealthy mechanisms to cope: people-pleasing, perfectionism, and procrastination, to name a few. I help you identify your go-to patterns so we can start unraveling how they ‘protect’ you from your anxiety, what your anxiety is really about and how you can move through it as quickly as possible.
Using my book, The Happier Approach and the A.S.K. philosophy combined with The Daring Way, I help clients build a relationship with themselves so they can recognize their anxiety, move through it and live happier, more fulfilling lives.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, therapeutic coach, animal lover, and someone who consistently gets recognized for my laugh. For years I hid my dirty little secret too. I appeared successful, capable and on top of it. To make matters worse, I actually taught people about the importance of being kind to yourself and listening to your inner wisdom even though I was secretly getting hammered by my Monger (a.k.a. my inner critic/voice). I truly believed that without this voice helping me achieve my goals, I wouldn’t be successful.
I knew there had to be a way to be kind to myself AND accomplish my goals so I went to work to figure it out. Combining my years of study, research and countless hours working with clients I developed the Happier Approach a 3 step system to help you motivate yourself AND be kind to yourself. I admit a 3 step system sounds easy almost too easy. But I want to be clear, it’s not that simple. At the core of the Happier Approach is you finally listening to yourself without all the doubts, worries and ruminating. Using the Happier Approach we will work together to navigate the situations where your anxiety comes up, what your core beliefs are and how you can work around them to build more loyalty with yourself.
In 2014, I was certified in The Daring Way™, based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. The method was developed to help men, women and adolescents develop shame resilience skills so they can learn how to show up, be seen and live braver lives. I use this work combined with the Happier Approach to work with clients
