Next week I am kicking off my 3rd session of the Daring Greatly 4 Week Course. It was almost a year ago that I attended the Daring Way™ training in San Antonio and met Brené Brown…I swear since then my life has not been the same.
The change didn’t happen in one big bolt of lightning, it wasn’t in one giant radical shift, it was in tiny little every day practices that have resulted in a monumental shift in how I approach myself and my life.
I have always been skeptical of the self help world. My practical side just gets stuck in the ‘you CAN have it all’ or ‘Just DO it’ quotes. I am always drawn to the question how? I am always looking underneath to say…is this really possible? And too often when I was reading self help books or listening to the latest self help guru I was left with passion but little practicality.
Real change takes effort.
Clients come to see me because they want to:
- learn what they really want out of their lives,
- not lose themselves in relationships,
- build anxiety resilience,
- set healthy boundaries
- love who they are
Each of these concepts take intention and effort.
They also take the ability to:
- Recognize our own shame and vulnerability.
- See when we are responding out of fear rather than empathy.
- Know when we need to be kind to ourselves and give ourselves a rest because we are experiencing a vulnerability hangover
All take time and diligence.
But I can say processing self awareness, authenticity, vulnerability, and shame resilience has decreased my anxiety, increased my happiness and raised my quality of life.
Has it been rainbows and bunnies? No.
Has it been challenging and annoying at times? Yes.
Has it been worth it? ABSOLUTELY!
Adding the Daring Greatly tools into my life has given me more time to deal with what really matters. I spend far less time on drama and crazy distractions and more time on showing up fully, entering the arena and living my life. Less time for bullshit more time for what really matters…isn’t that what life is all about?
I can’t say enough good things about the work of Brené Brown—I am so glad I started the journey a year ago to become a certified Daring Way™ Facilitator–and I am so glad I have been able to share her work with amazing women in my Daring Greatly 4 Week Course. I hope you will join me next week as I start the journey again with a whole new group of people.
